So you’ve made your Pro-Care Fabric Protection appointment. Our technicians look forward to providing you with an outstanding service experience. In the meantime, you may be wondering how best to prepare your home for that protection application. Just follow these four easy steps and you’ll ensure the most efficient and effective service.
RESERVE THE Work Zone FOR YOUR Fabric Protection Appointment
When our technicians can move freely and work without interruption, they get the best results. One key step to prepare your home for fabric protection is to notify those in your household when to expect our arrival. For safety and convenience, ask friends and family to stay clear of the rooms we will service.
Professional protection application can be disruptive, smelly and messy. During your appointment, please be sure the work area is a kid and pet free zone. We advise clients put their pets in a safe, quiet place, where service won’t disturb them. Do keep an extra close eye on little ones while Pro-Care technicians are in your home.
Finally, PLEASE avoid scheduling any other service companies while we are on-site. If there are professionals who must overlap our cleaning appointment, it is important to share the guidelines covered here.
Make Sure the Items to be Protected are Fully Accessible.
As a client, you expect the professionals to complete your service in a timely way. To help Pro-Care providers move efficiently and make the most of your appointment, please prepare the items to be protected before we arrive.
Begin by clearing away loose personal belongings. Removing clothing, toys, electronics, etc will insure our service is efficient. Please secure all breakables and remove small furnishings – dining room chairs, ottomans, floor lamps, plants or accent tables away from any surfaces where the technicians will apply protection.
Remember Pro-Care techs cannot move computer equipment, china cabinets, sectional sofas, entertainment centers, antique or fragile furniture. However, where sufficient room is available, we can protect around such items or we can edge closely around the base of the largest pieces.
COMMUNICATE YOUR CONCERNS ABOUT THE Furniture, Carpet, Textiles or Rugs TO BE Protected
Please plan to be on site at the beginning of your protection appointment. The walk-through is a great time to examine the area and items scheduled for protection with the technicians before their service begins. This will be a good time to ask questions about the process and discuss ongoing maintenance of your items going forward.
It is particularly helpful too when clients point out pre-existing spots, stains, soiling or defects on items to be cleaneds. Defects may include rips, tears, holes, fiber damage, wear, and stitching issues, or other structural concerns. The protection process will not cause more damage but there will be current concerns the technicians cannot fix.
Allow for ventilation after Protection.
Depending upon the fiber type we will protect, it is common for clients to smell the presence of Isopropyl Alcohol during treatment. This is the carrying agent for the protection product. We assure you there is no reason for concern. Our fabric protector is applied directly to the textile or furnishing and does not remain airborne.
Within a short time, the smell of the Isopropyl Alcohol will dissipate. Our technicians will facilitate proper ventilation during the application process. When possible, we will open any available windows or doors. We may even use air movers to improve dry time.
Plan Ahead for our Post-Service Pointers.
Fabric Protection requires time to ‘cure.’ Please restrict your family’s and pets’ access to the treated items and surfaces for two to four hours after the application is complete. This will insure ample dry time and lasting protection. Also, review our pointers about cleaning your protected items when spots or spills happen. Though the article focuses on carpet cleaning, the advice remains consistent for other textiles.
If you still have questions about our protection product or the reasons to consider protecting your floors and furnishings, we offer a helpful article listing frequently asked questions about fabric protection.
